Sagan is first professional cyclist to win European Championship.
Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan can be called “The Lord of the Jerseys”, the Sme daily wrote. After the yellow jersey from the Tour de France and the rainbow jersey of the World Championship, Sagan has also won
the blue jersey for the European Championship. For the first time since 1995, cyclists racing for elite teams were allowed to compete at the European Championship on September 18, in the French Plumelec. Thus, Sagan became the first professional to enjoy a victory at this event. He had a very calm expression in the morning before the race, despite the pressure of being the favourite to win. After a very well-timed sprint, he rejoiced about the victory.
